For users with the permissions to create a new cube, there will be 3 options to choose from when creating a new project and modeling a new cube:

  1. Start from Scratch – create your own model from a blank canvas
  2. Use Sample to Explore – use a sample model with sample data to quickly explore modeling
  3. Import Existing XML – Import and modify from an existing XML file.

Start From Scratch:

Selecting “Start from Scratch” will open a new process flow with the following steps:

  1. Give your project a unique name.   Type in a project name – a green checkmark will appear if it is unique.  Select “Next”
  2. Select your modeling Environment from the drop down menu.
  3. Set Initial Permissions.  The choices are to give all users permissions to the new cube, or just you.  You may change this later after the cube has been created.
  4. Select “Finish” and you will be taken directly to the cube design canvas. The cube name is the same as the project name, and can be changed from the Project->Cube->Setting menu.

Use Sample to Explore:

Selecting “Use a Sample to Explore” will open a new process flow with the following steps:

  1. Upload your file.  You can use a pre-packaged sample data set to start exploring the cube design process.
    • Click on the “Our Sample Data Repository” link to select a data set to explore, which takes you to the Software Downloads page.
    • Choose the sample application you would like to explore and select “Download”
    • Navigate back to the AtScale tab in your browser
    • Select the Environment and Schema
    • Select “Browse” to select your newly downloaded sample data and then click “Next”
  1. Set Initial Permissions.  You may choose to give all users permissions to the new cube, or just you.  You may change this later after the cube has been created.
  2. Select “Finish” and you will be taken directly to the cube design canvas populated with your sample data.

Import Existing XML

Selecting “Import Existing XML” will open a new process flow with the following steps:

  1. Enter or Upload Your Existing XML. Select from 2 options: Upload File or Paste Code.
    • If you select “Upload File”, you will be prompted to Browse for the XML file and then select that file for upload.
    • If you select “Paste Code”, you will see an area in the interface to paste in your XML code.
    • You may be prompted to rename the project if there currently is a project of same name.
  1. Select Environment. From the drop down, select the modeling environment for your project.
  2. Set Initial Permissions.  You may choose to give all users permissions to the new cube, or just you.  You may change this later after the cube has been created.
  3. Select “Finish” and you will be taken directly to the cube design canvas populated with the project you just imported.
