AtScale customer Macy’s recognized with prestigious 2016 Ventana Research Business Technology Leadership Award for Big Data
San Mateo, CA, November 30, 2016 — AtScale, the first company to provide business users with a fast and secure self-service BI platform for Hadoop, announced today that its deployment at customer Macy’s has been recognized with the prestigious 2016 Ventana Research Business Technology Leadership Award in the category of Big Data. The award also honors Seetha Chakrapany, Director of Marketing Analytics and CRM Systems, Macy’s, as the initiative’s leader and executive sponsor.
The annual Ventana Research Business Technology Leadership Awards identify business and IT leaders who are using technologies and applying best practices to contribute to their organization’s success.
“The Leadership Awards are the most prestigious annual industry awards today. They acknowledge and honor individuals, organizations, supporting vendors and consulting firms for their accomplishments using technology to drive exceptional results in achieving their goals and objectives,” said Mark Smith, CEO and chief research officer of Ventana Research. “I would like to personally congratulate all the Leadership Award winners – individuals and companies, that have gone the extra mile to advance the use of technology through best practices and leadership.”
Chakrapany’s marketing systems team disrupted the status quo of ‘bringing data to the tool’ and operationalized BI on Hadoop by bringing BI tools to the data. What started in marketing, has branched out to supply chain and merchandising. Macy’s now has an analytics platform that is capable to cater enterprise use-cases for the company, including different types of users; data scientists, analysts, senior leadership.
“Data is key for Macy’s, and AtScale allows them to analyze massive amounts of data across diverse touchpoints without business users having to write their own queries by hand,” said AtScale CEO Dave Mariani. “We’re honored that Ventana Research recognizes the value AtScale brings to Macy’s and the resounding success of the initiative.”
Macy’s deployed AtScale to be the seamless semantic layer for all BI tools on Hadoop. AtScale enabled end users to directly and efficiently access the valuable data on the Hadoop cluster while still preserving the control, security and responsiveness of the existing big data platform. With AtScale, Macy’s can leave the data in Hadoop where it lies, use the right BI tools for the right job and provide a single semantic layer for consistency in data definitions and results.
